Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year at Mt. Carmel Elementary!
We would like to welcome our new Principal, Mrs. Julie Pool, to the Mt. Carmel family. This is her nineteenth year as an educator with Madison County Schools. Mrs. Pool began her career in education as a special education teacher at Monrovia Elementary; she then moved to Endeavor Elementary, where she served as a special education teacher and an assistant principal for 6 years. She then accepted a position as a resource specialist for our district-level special education department. She served Mt. Carmel in that position for 3 years. For the past 4 years, Mrs. Pool has been a member of the Buckhorn family serving as the Assistant Principal at Riverton Elementary School.
Mrs. Pool has been married to her wonderful husband, Glyn, for 22 years. They have 2 beautiful daughters, Ashlee and Bethany. Mrs. Pool received her Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling from Old Dominion University in 1997. In 1999, she received her Master of Education degree in Special Education from Alabama A&M University. She earned her Leadership Certification from the University of Alabama in 2004.
As a little girl, Mrs. Pool dreamed of becoming a teacher. She states, "I am living my dream and I absolutely love working with children every day!"
