MakerSpace Friday

Maker Space Friday @ Your Library is an S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) program designed by Mt. Carmel Elementary's School Librarian, Mrs. Dunning, to provide opportunities for student enrichment through community partner collaboration.  Adults and senior level high school students are encouraged to sign up for at least two hours on Fridays to share S.T.E.M. topics on a K-3 level of instruction.

All lessons will be planned to support the course of study for K-3 and connect S.T.E.M. from the elementary level to the possibilities of tomorrow.  Mrs. Dunning is available to provide lessons, plan with community mentors to develop lessons, and or support previously developed ones to share.  All lesson should be discussed and approved by the school librarian prior to presentation.

The MakerSpace schedule runs on 20 minute increments. Please refer to the table below when deciding on arrival and departure plans. MakerSpace is very fast paced and fun. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the time slots you would like to volunteer for. UAH Students can submit info through this Google Form:  https://tinyurl.com/UAH-Mentors

Teachers are provided a schedule each Wednesday before the upcoming MakerSpace Friday, to sign up 4-6 students per class eacher event.  It is the librarians goal that every student at Mt. Carmel be able to participate in MakerSpace no less than twice a school year.  The more volunteers the library has, the more opportunities for exposure our students have.
