Alabama Virtual Library is an online website that "houses" several databases and is paid for through State Department funding; it's sort of like a mall with many stores. Under Student Resources, you will find "grade appropriate" resources using the Elementary link. Click here for some of our most used databases, like Britannica Elementary. Try them all out and see which ones are easiest to navigate with your child. When you surf AVL in Elementary area, you can relax and know that the content is accurate, validated and safe. Please notify your librarian if you ever find this to be otherwise; AVL is quick to monitor any content questioned.
netTrekker (a Knovation product) is an online digital resource that is paid for by Madison County Schools. Similar to AVL, you can sort by grade appropriate content by indicating reading level. As you investigate netTrekker along side your child, you will become familiar with how it is organized and soon your child will become an independent online learner. When logging into a computer at school, students will not need a password. However, to log in from home, the best thing to do is log into their Canvas account set up by their teacher, and netTrekker is already there and the searches can be personalized and
